Now here I am: in Marsabit, Northern Kenya. There have been complaints of not staying in Austria from many, many people. But you know me… It’s my job! Again with Caritas Austria, this time as project coordinator during the emergency phase of the current drought. Well, I arrived safely here a couple of days ago with a small MAF-airplane (the airline where the pilot does pray before leaving) on the small airstrip.
Soon we got introduced to the key persons here in town and we headed to the “field”. Over a rough road through a desert which should not be a desert but pasture. It did not rain for 3 years now and people struggle and suffer. Most of them are nomads and they have nowhere to go any more – because there is nothing left for them to survive.
Being a nomad is in my perspective the hardest form of living. And there is so much which I did not understand – but I am learning.
